Learn to pray with confidence

The complete Salah sequence is printed across one surface, in prayer order, in twelve numbered steps. It is already open when you stand on it, so a glance down is all it takes to keep going.

What is on the mat

  • Twelve numbered steps laid out in the order you pray them, from the opening takbir through to tasleem.
  • An English phonetic line for every word, so each step is written in letters you already read.
  • A body-position diagram beside each step, showing the posture that belongs to it.
  • A routing line beneath step 8 that tells you how many rak'ah the prayer you are in actually needs, so you are not counting from memory partway through.

Who it is for

Reverts praying alone at home. Anyone who has been reading from a phone and wants it out of their hands. Parents teaching a child the sequence for the first time.

You will outgrow it. That is the point of it.

Dimensions and materials

Size

120 × 70 cm (47 × 27 in). Wide enough that the print sits in view without you leaning, and long enough for adults up to roughly 2 m tall.

Padding

High-density foam core, made to hold the knees through long sujood rather than compress flat on the first prostration.

Backing

Non-slip. It stays where you put it on hard floors and on carpet.

Print

Printed into the surface, not applied as a decal. It does not peel, and it does not sit raised under the forehead.

Travel

Folds down for storage and for carrying.

Care and washing

Spot clean with a damp cloth and a mild soap. Work in small circles rather than scrubbing, and let it dry flat and away from direct heat.

Do not machine wash, tumble dry, or run an iron over the printed area.

When it arrives

Mats ship vacuum-sealed. Lay yours flat for two to four hours after unpacking and the foam returns to full thickness. Any fold marks from packing settle out within a day.

Shipping and returns

Orders are dispatched within 72 hours. A tracking number is emailed as soon as your parcel leaves.

Delivery times

  • United States — 6 to 8 working days
  • United Kingdom — 5 to 7 working days
  • Europe — 5 to 7 working days
  • Canada — 5 to 7 working days
  • Australia — 5 to 10 working days
  • Rest of world — 5 to 7 working days

These are estimates. Customs or courier delays can add a few days.

Cost

Free shipping on orders over $100. No import duties or tariffs are added on delivery.

Returns

90 days from delivery. If it is not working for you, write to us and we will refund you.

Why it hasn't stuck

You've started hundreds of prayers. You've finished almost none of them.

Physical sequences, the postures of Salah, their order, what belongs where, aren't learned the way facts are learned. They're stored as procedural memory, and procedural memory saves a sequence far better when it runs start to finish without stopping.

That's the part nobody told you.

Every time you pause mid-prayer to unlock your phone, find your place in the app, or squint at the sheet beside you, the rep breaks. And a broken rep stores far worse than a complete one.

So you haven't been failing at learning Salah. You've been doing something else entirely: making attempt after attempt, and almost never completing a single full run. Dozens of starts. Almost zero finished reps.

Which is exactly why it hasn't stuck yet.

The apps and the videos weren't the problem. They taught you the words. They just couldn't stay out of the way while your body tried to learn them.

A man praying alone on a prayer mat in a dim living room at night, a phone and a printed sheet on the floor beside him.
A hand pressed flat on the Rumi prayer mat, showing the soft textured surface and the printed steps with clearly readable phonetic text.

How Rumi fixes it

The whole prayer is already on the floor in front of you.

Rumi prints the complete sequence across one surface. Twelve steps, in prayer order, with the Arabic, a phonetic line and the meaning.

It is already open. It never locks, never times out, never scrolls away. It cannot lose your place, because it does not have one to lose.

It asks nothing of you while you pray. Every prayer becomes one complete rep, and rehearsal is the only thing that ever turns into memory.

All twelve steps, one surface. Arabic, phonetics and meaning together. No second source.
Nothing to operate. It does not lock, dim or buffer. A phone needs something from you first.

Realistically

What the first month actually looks like.

Week one, following

You read most of it. Prayers take longer than they will later. That's fine. Every one of them still runs start to finish, and that's the part that counts.

Weeks two to three, anticipating

You start knowing what comes next before your eyes get there. The glance becomes a confirmation instead of a search.

Month two, glancing less

Whole stretches go by without looking down. The mat is still there for the parts that haven't settled yet, and it stays out of the way of the parts that have.

Side by side

Rumi vs. what you've actually been using.

Rumi Your phone A printed sheet A plain mat
Shows the whole sequence at once Yes No Partly No
Doesn't interrupt you mid-prayer Yes No No Yes
No screen to unlock Yes No Yes Yes
Comfortable in sujood Yes No No Varies
Stays where you put it Yes No No Varies

To be fair: your phone is still the best tool for hearing correct pronunciation aloud, and it fits in your pocket. Keep it for study between prayers. It just shouldn't be in your hands during one.

Is it respectful to pray on a mat with writing on it?

A fair question, and it deserves a plain answer. Rumi is a learning aid, the way a written du'a card or a Qur'an held in your hands during study is a learning aid. The printing is on the mat, not on the act. The design was deliberately made quiet and unobtrusive so that as you need it less, it recedes. If you want certainty for your own practice, ask your local imam. We would encourage that, not talk you out of it.

As a revert who doesn't speak Arabic, this is exactly what I need to learn salah easily. I have ADHD and struggled using apps/videos to learn salah. But this limits distractions, is easy to read and understand and is also very soft and pretty. Will definitely recommend to other reverts.

I have been struggling with few of my verses i go blank, and keep forgetting which part iam reciting from. This has helped bring back my confidence as on phone it logs out and paper moves away. Ive tried everything which has caused me to delay my salaah. Yesterday was my 1st use i have made dua for the person who has come up with this idea.

Great prayer mat! I ordered it to make it easier for my revert friend to learn how to pray. It also has soft cushioning, but the most important about it is that the prayer-guide itself is good. It explains the prayer in an easy but yet thorough manner.

Honest Review. I ordered my prayer mat during Ramadan so I didnt expect a speedy delivery, I ordered on the 1st and received my prayer mat on the 15th. With that said, the prayer mat was WELL worth the wait. It is exactly as described, soft, and designed with care.

A note from the founder

I printed the whole prayer on the mat for one reason.

So that a rep can finish.

I watched people I love start a prayer, stop to check a phone, and quietly give up for the night. Not because they didn't care. Caring was never the problem. The interruptions were.

Every guide I found asked you to memorise first and pray second. Nobody had built the guidance into the one surface you are already looking at. So we did.

You will outgrow this mat. That is the point of it.

Five prayers a day.
Every one of them a complete rep.
